The Budget and Taxation Committee researches and formulates recommendations on Fairfax County’s revenue and spending. The County receives revenue from real estate taxes, property taxes, and other local taxes and fees. The County uses that revenue to fund the Fairfax County Public Schools, police and fire, health and welfare, parks, libraries, and other services.
The committee’s largest effort each year is preparing MCA’s position on the proposed County budget. The committee drafts a series of recommendations for consideration by the MCA Board of Directors and delivery to the County’s Board of Supervisors and the school system’s School Board. The recommendations are also presented to the Board of Supervisors at public hearings.
The Committee meets on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the McLean Community Center unless otherwise announced.
