The Education & Youth Committee deals with issues affecting young people including schools and recreational activities. During FY 2015, the committee focused primarily on class size, principal and teacher assessments, the FCPS FY 2016 budget, and the Virginia Retirement System.
The Committee meets on the third Tuesday of the month at the McLean Community Center unless otherwise announced.

The MCA is sponsoring the annual Outstanding Teen Character Award at this year's McLean Day. The award recognizes teens for their service and commitment to their community. To be eligible, the student must live in either:
McLean zip code 22101 or 22102,
Neighborhood that feeds into McLean or Langley High School, or
Area served by the MCA.
The activity for which the student is being nominated for cannot have been used for credit/award from another organization (e.g., National Honor Society, Boys Scout, graduation).
If you know of any teens who should be recognized for their accomplishments and dedication to the community, please recommend them for the award and/or share the nomination form with your neighbors, HOAs, PTAs, etc.
